Rosacea Treatment
Rosacea is a condition that affects both men and women. The condition’s effects generally begin around age 30 and present itself as a persistent centralised facial flushing. Rosacea, if left untreated, can continue to develop with more pronounced spider veins/Telangiectasia, and acne lesions.
Inflammation in the central face is more commonly seen in men who suffer from rosacea and can lead to a bulbous nose. Although there is no medical cure for Rosacea, lifestyle and diet along with laser treatments can assist minimise inflammation and clean up Telangiectasia in order to control the condition.
The laser treatment is performed to break up dilated blood vessels and inflammation in order to keep Rosacea at bay. It is also beneficial for those suffering from acne associated with the Rosacea condition, as it effectively shuts down overactive oil glands that tend to clog the affected area resulting in acne lesions. The laser uses different pulse durations and energy to photo-selectively target and shut down vascular lesions/Telangiectasia.
This treatment is extremely effective and helps give a more even tone and texture to the skin. The added benefit of collagen remodelling with the laser is that it provides the skin the support and strength required to combat the side effects of Rosacea for longer periods of time.
Prior to Treatment
Every person wishing to be treated at our Advanced Laser Clinic will require a consultation with our Laser Consultant prior to their first treatment.
At this appointment, we welcome all questions to advance your understanding of the treatment. There will be a consultation form to be completed about your health and medications to assess your eligibility for treatment.
A patch test will be performed on your skin to ensure the laser settings are suitable for you. If there are no reactions 24 hours after your patch test, we can commence your laser treatment.
Before laser therapy, it is very important that you keep your treated area away from sun exposure. Your skin needs to be protected from the sun for a minimum of two weeks before any treatment commences. This is crucial both before and after the treatment. The lasers work on providing a specific heat at a specific depth in your tissue to produce a desired end point. This end point can be exacerbated if exposed to sun and can cause unwanted side effects.
